I know how much time and effort you have put into creating many of these graphics and it is appreciated greatly.
My pleasure Bob.

That is okay Rich. Since October of 2022, I have ceased to CARE about anything.

Something like this happens at antique malls. You put an item in your booth for 90% of book value. The next morning another dealer buys it and immediately puts it in their booth for 95% of book. Then someone else does it and jacks it up to book. Sometimes it ends there but if there's the right idiot in the crowd it ends up for sale over book.

Dealers can trade with each other all they want and they do it all the time. But if I were the owner of this hypothetical place I'd give everyone holy hell for shenanigans like that. Would I want people walking around my place and seeing book+ everywhere? Would other dealers want to be in such a place? No. We'd want stuff to sell, not be laughed at. But there's always some clown who's too stupid to figure out the most basic marketing strategy.

I am very new to the laser engraving. Just retired from higher education and thought I would take up a hobby. This trend was very informative. Thanks for all the information. great post.

If you want to use it to make money then don't use someone else's work use someone else's idea and do your own work. The other choice is join a site that gives you commercial licence. Creative frabrica looks interesting like 99 bucks a year for a crapload of dxf and assorted craft files.
I totally get what you're saying. It’s important to respect others’ work, but at the same time, there are ways to create unique designs by reimagining ideas or using resources that are free or come with commercial licenses. Redesigning with different fonts or pulling images from free sites that allow commercial use is a great strategy for staying within the rules.

Creative Fabrica is a solid option for those looking for commercial-use files — having a membership opens up access to tons of resources for crafting or design work. It's always nice to have more options that are properly licensed to avoid legal issues while still being creative!

Stay away from Creative frabrica l, they do not own the art work. They get it from artists and then sell it . There have been a lot of people getting sued even though you are using and paying for the commercial license. Just Google it. I reached out to them and they said it does happen sometimes.
Just something to think about.

LAHobbyGuy wrote: Tue Sep 27, 2022 12:29 am Funny thing is, I have had people contact me for copyright infringement on files I made 5, 6, 7, 10 years ago that I sell on many websites. I've had seller accounts cancelled by people who stole my designs and reported them as theirs. I had one person actually have a lawyer contact me demanding $25,000! I had him send me the file in question, and then I sent him back mine. Hers was created in 2018 and mine was 2011. Digital files have meta data that doesn't lie! I probably have 20K+ digital files online that I sell on a dozen websites, and 90% of them have probably been copied and used elsewhere. I see them being used on Etsy all the time.

Rich
Yep. There are those types out there. I had a YouTube channel with over 550 training videos, showing people how to use design edge software. Gary DeWitt of SIGN TORCH WHINED to You Tube that I had committed some copyright violations, which was complete BS, but we all know that the gender confuse snowflakes at YouTube are not going to bother investigating it. He made three complaints in a matter of two days. They gave me three strikes and they took my channel down and they want me to jump through hoops to prove that I did not violate the copyrights rather than them just looking at the videos and deciding for themselves that Gary was lying

Well, nothing to be done about it. I’m not going to put the energy into uploading 550 videos to another site. One of the bad things about social media is, the smarmy little worms in our society have learned that all you have to do is cry loud enough! “GO BEAT UP THAT GUY!” Childish, schoolyard nonsense. But the people that run the sites do not take the time to validate claims. If you make a claim, they count it as one strike and when someone makes three claims, they count three strikes and take you down without any more effort than that. They are too busy sitting there in San Bruno, California, filing their black fingernails and arranging their hair into man buns, to be concerned about the truth.

Now Gary and his cohort, Robert Johnson, another of his ilk, are gloating about how they took my channel down on Gary’s READY2CUT forum. He is posting attack videos of me and being a total butt, but there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s a very good thing for both of them, that I was raised in the Catholic schools and taught that I am accountable to God for my actions here on earth. Otherwise, Steven Spielberg wouldn’t be able to write a more gruesome outcome.
