Help me find the issue

Post by daddycreswell »

So I turned my laser on and ran a design I've ran countless times in the past, and went on my way of doing other things. Job finished I opened the lid to find that it didn't turn out as expected, it looked terrible. The material I was using is 35 bucks a sheet so messing up on it is never good, so I grab some leatherette to run some test and the engraving looks like crap, you can missed lines in the engraving and it would seem that it's going past where it should stop. Can someone point me in the right direction of finding and fixing the problem?

No I haven't, figured out the focal lens was really loose, tightened that up and it helped with the engraving on the words. But the circle was jankie, so after a bunvh of back and forth with a guy on the Lightburn forum we decided that my X-axis was loose. There was a lot of play in the belt, only way to tighten that on mine is to loosen the bolts on the motor and move it....stripped one of the bolts. Wasn't even tightening that much, so now I have got to fix that. Even with it fixed I don't think I will be able to tighten the belt up very much. I'm real close to pushing it out of the garage and buying a new one.

Would that just change over night? Well this issue has turned into a large issue created by me of sorts. In trouble shooting I determined my X-axis belt was loose, so I tried to tighten it up by moving the motor, which in turn produced a stripped screw on the motor. Now I have to figure out a way to tap the hole without removing the whole top of the laser, which I am afraid I can't do.
