Forget Hobby Investment Creep, you're taking it to the next level. Here comes the electric LaserMobile. 8-)

We're all jealous, of course. If you need to free up some space I can probably squeeze another gadget in. :D
Believe me when I say that I am not trying to make anyone jealous. I have this plan of sorts, but I admit that it is not fully clarified. I want to set up my shop so that I can go in there and make arts and crafts to sell. I did set up my shops originally in 2012. there are plasma tables and table, saws and sanders and drill presses, and all of that stuff in there and yes, I suppose the average person would say that it is more than the typical hobby shop might contain. I had a lot more energy back then and I also had help. I was able to crank out about 200 to 300 pieces of metal art each week and feed them to the 10 x 10 vendor booths that I had all over Kentucky and Tennessee. It was fun and I enjoyed it, however, as I’m getting older and this #$%^& rheumatoid arthritis is taking over, I am finding it FARM more difficult to do the things I could easily do just 10 years ago

So I discovered lasers and I bought my first laser from X-TOOL sometime ago. I enjoyed using it and it seemed easy to create fantastic things without a lot of physical effort. Then I bought another LASER and then another etc. Now there are some 16 lasers on the second floor of my FrankenBarn waiting for me to set them up and get back into manufacturing something that I can sell.

The economy has changed and quite frankly the country has changed in the last 10 years. Plans that I had are not quite as certain now. I really don’t even know if we’ll have a country in six months. But I’m still trying. I am returning home with this 3-D printer and the E-BIKE I ended up buying quite literally by accident. I will start riding the bike to try and loosen up the joints and I’m going to work hard to get these lasers actually set up and working very soon.

The big goal is to have an assortment of Christmas decorations to sell in Nashville at the big Christmas show in November but time is short, and I am back to the point where I have no helpers at the moment so I’m not even sure I will be able to pull this off. Setting up lasers not just putting them on and plug them in. You have to set up ducting for exhaust of the smoke fumes, shelving for the various materials, spaces for computer, workstations, etc. and I am running out of time very quickly. If I fail this year , I can tackle it again next year I suppose but I am approaching the point where I am wondering why I am even trying at all.

The company that makes the 3-D printer has contacted me to inform me that this Fortus 400 printer has reached the end of its serviceable life, and is no longer supported by them. Although this is a fully working printer, they are suggesting that I turn it in and upgrade to the latest and greatest. The idea of doing that, and subsequently taking on some $200,000 in debt for whatever 3-D printing machine they currently promote is more than I want to do right now. I think I should take some time, at least through the end of this year, to learn. HOW 3-D printers work and how to work with the.stl files that I can find online, or create myself using fusion 3-D software, etc.

My physical limitations are my kryptonite. There is so much that I want to do and my body is telling me that much of it is not going to be possible. Who knows! I might have the largest yard sale in Kentucky’s history next spring and just convert everything into cash. I suppose if I sold absolutely everything in my shop, I could easily raise $1 million but I don’t wanna do that. Not yet I do like working with my hands and I do like creating things so I’m trying to give it one last college try Before I give up and go rent a room in Shady acres.

The things I am buying are part of a bigger picture. I am trying to get away from the physically demanding task of working with Metals and other heavy materials on the plasma tables, and the bending, welding, and lifting involved in producing products using that material. If the lasers offer me anything, it is the ability to work with materials that are much lighter and easier to handle.

The kickstarter sets the 48x96 60 watt price at around $2,200.00. I am willing to take a gamble on this. The idea of being able to cut a 4x8 sheet of 1/2” plywood is very interesting. I reserved one for myself, but they’d are talking about a March 2025 release, so I won’t hold my breath.

I hope the price you quoted is correct. I had figured it to be in the $5000+ range. That gets my interest also. I will have to wait until later in fall. Got several thousand bills for taxes and insurance that need to be paid. One in October and the other by January. Need to set money aside. Here I go ranting.
I do have a Geeetech A20T and a JG Maker Artist-D Pro IDEX 3D printers. Have an Atomstack A5 40W Pro+. Added the M100 laser module and love it. 8-) -- Added the IKIER 70W laser and it has unbelievable performance.

The price is around $4K, but those who pledge to purchase the machine NOW will get it for the lower price. So I reserved one machine. I may reserve another one too, but I will hold off…

Whew! Home Alone! AGAIN! After a brief run up to Ohio to see if they are really eating pets and pond ducks! No ... actually, I helped a man install one of my rail lift kits for his Samson 510 cnc plasma table. My kit raises the rails, and gantry and carriage 4.25" to give the table fully six inches of Z capacity, which is 300% of factory original. This opens up a lot of possibilities for the table owner.

I checked into the Hampton. Room 428, at first. I arrived late. There was a Do Not Disturb sign on the doorknob. This USUALLY means someone checked out, forgot to remove it and housekeeping has not cleaned the room. Nope! Not this time! I walked in on a couple who were surprised to see me. I immediately backed out and closed the door, muttering, "If it is a boy, name it 'Joe!' " When I returned to the front desk, the manager was already on the phone with the folks in 428, apologizing profusely. It was THEIR FAULT! The rooms have the latches and internal deadbolt locks that are there to PREVENT those OOPS! moments. I was given a suite on the ground floor instead. A nice room, but horribly noisy, with dual large windows facing the pool. I didn't get much sleep. :x

NOW I am home for a while, so I can begin setting up the lasers on the second floor of the FrankenBarn. I am not sure I will get it together fast enough for a Christmas Craft Show in Nashville, but I am sure going to TRY! I could sure use some HELP!

Don't think you will see any pets or ducks. I heard they were all eaten already!
I have an Atomstack X7pro. I just started engraving in February and 3d printing last year. I really enjoy it but wish I had started earlier when my brain was fully functional :?

Using an Atomstack A20 20W with an RA2 rotary, and Roly LaserMatic10. Professional cabinet maker with plenty of scraps to burn.
