lightburn issue using with atomstack

Post by WebbM1 »

using newest version of lightburn and have had no issue till now. Trying to do a project I've done many times. words and other patterns are showing that they're in place but when I go to run the laser everything is cutting in different places than they are shown. Please help I'm on a time crunch with this project

Not much anyone can tell you without a better explanation and seeing your settings Mark. A quick guess would be your Start from position on the laser tab might be in Current Position, so the laser will start from wherever the module is located at the time. Take a screen shot of your project and your settings, and also a pic of the product it engraved wrong so we can get a better idea of the problem.

Another solution is to go to File --> Preferences --> Load Perfs Backup and choose a date to restore the settings you had when the project worked properly.

Hopefully these are the settings you're refering to. Computer screenshot of what it's supposed to look like and what the laser is actually doing

I've been running this project, only changing out names and at times adjusting settings up or down depending on how the machine is engraving, I ran this project a couple of months back with no issues. I can't remember when this current version of lightburn came out but I've upgraded before and had no issues like this. You see in the bottom picture of the design and how it's supposed to look. However, if you look at the product produced you see the numbers or letters are placed where they are shown on the screen within the design.

UPDATE: I went back and loaded older preferences and that caused the lines on the banner to not match up at the beginning and the end of the completed shape.

Depending on how much you use the laser, a couple of months back, you're belts may have been tight, since this looks like a hardware issue. Things you'll need to check are:
1) Belts for tightness
2) Eccentric nuts for play
3) Grub screws on your timing gears for tightness
This really looks like a hardware issue.

It's possible, in addition to the hardware issue, you may have some file corruption. Select all the graphics and copy them (Ctrl+C). CLick, File --> New and then paste them into the new file (Ctrl+V).

Thank you Sir,
I will give the machine a once over to be sure the wheels and belts and wheels are tight enough.

Thank you for your help

I have seen this problem quite a bit and it's usually the grub screws on the timing gears. Look at the rod that connects both Y axis'. On each side, on the timing gears that the belts ride on, there are 2-3 really small grub screws that hold the timing gears tight. You can test them by pinching the belt and holding it tight and trying to turn the connecting rod by hand. If it turns, they're loose. You have to test both sides.
