Monport GA 60w Mopa Fiber Laser

Post by Matthewwallace02 »

Hi everyone. My name is Matt Wallace. I'm pretty new to the forum. Been following this forum since I bought my Foxalien CNC/Laser for Christmas. Now I was gifted with a Monport Ga 60w Mopa Fiber Laser a friend of mine bought and never used. The issue is that I don't have the flash drive with all the drivers and setting that came with it when I received the machine. So, kind of stuck at this point to get it up and running using Lightburn. Searched all over Monport website with no luck. To ask a question to a service tech I have to have an Order Number that I don't have since the machine was gift. So, a little lost to what to do to get this machine up and running and that's why I'm reaching out to this community for guidance. The original flash drive for the machine was missed placed by the friend of mine that gave it to me as a gift. Thank You in advance.

Laser Everything has a good series of videos on getting going with Galvo lasers. Have a look and go through them all if need be.
Laser Everything - For Galvo Fiber Lasers
Jared Hooper ... Gabriola Island BC, Canada ... I've been using lasers since 2017. Started with a 2.8 w Emblaser diode and then a 30 w JPT fiber laser since Dec.2020 and now have a 60w JPT fiber and a 10w Zbaitu diode. I do most of my designing in Illustrator and work primarily on a mac. I've been using LightBurn to control my diode machine since the first week it came out (many versions ago) and now to also control the fiber machines.

The Drivers are on this page: https://monportlaser.com/pages/download ... Jg7bwEuU7Z

Lightburn can install its version of the driver for you if you will be using it. https://docs.lightburnsoftware.com/legacy/galvo/

It works nice

I have the same Monport 60w MOPA. LB had no issues here. LB found it and its working great however I noticed the other day while doing maintinence on the 60w the cooling fans are blowing "out" the back of the unit therefor making the filters at the fans useless. I pulled out the filters and taped a piece of filter cloth over the grill at the other side. You might want to check that out.

For the Monport GI60 fiber laser, you'll need to have the mark7cfg file to load into Lightburn in the device settings. This is a CORE file, and is specific for the particular lasers. You'll need to email Monport support (good luck) with the serial number so they can get a copy from the factory. If you send me an email at [email protected], I can send you the mark7 for my laser. You'll need to do a lot of calibration on it though if it wasn't in the same production batch as mine.
