another coin holder

Post by rebeltaz »

I'm as obsessed with silver and copper coins as @JoeJones is with laser cutters

As a mechanic, I bought a coin with "Dirty Hands" on one side and "Clean Money" other the other. That came with what I didn't know at the time was a matching coin that says "Clean Hands" on one side and "Dirty Money" on the other. I gave that one to a friend who loves all things Mafioso. For a display holder, he asked for a New York City skyline.

I think it came out pretty nice!

I'm really proud of this as it's one of my first attempts at my own multi-layer design.

Looks great! The coins also.
I do have a Geeetech A20T and a JG Maker Artist-D Pro IDEX 3D printers. Have an Atomstack A5 40W Pro+. Added the M100 laser module and love it. 8-) -- Added the IKIER 70W laser and it has unbelievable performance.

That looks great. The city skyline and coin holder look like wood burned on a laser but what of the Statue of Liberty? What makes her grey colored with black? It provides a really nice contrast.

Thank you. I spray painted that section of wood with a light (but full coverage) coat of grey primer before engraving and cutting Lady Liberty out. Oddly enough, though, the engraving just turned the wood light instead of dark. I even try running a second pass and that didn't help matters any, so I thinned out some black acrylic craft paint almost to the point of colored water. I flowed that over the whole piece, letting it settle into the engraved portions. After it dried a little, I wiped the acrylic wash off the grey parts and then highlighted the grey with a lighter acrylic grey.

Wow, that is a heck of a process but it sure turned out great! Thanks!
