Hi everyone
I have a 60W Galvo fiber mopa laser, and need to engrave into some circular saw blades
Can anyone advise what settings would be best to use for doing this?
I know a good way would be to use the material test generator in Lightburn, but there seems to be too many variables for me to use this, as I have limited test material, and unfortunately I feel I do not have the time to do all this at the moment
Any advice very much appreciated
Thanks
legepe

It really depends on your desire for colors etc.. Soo.. with the limited test material, maybe find some alternate test material? Razorblades, Scrapers, old stainless things you don't care about? If you have a dollar store nearby, a buck and a quarter can get you some generic scrapers. (I've bought and customized and sold some) They are pretty closer to the density of your sawblades.
And BTW.. be sure to do location corrections in your lightburn software too. (Align the red trace to match the actual end product)

If you want more blades to test on or maybe just to make more blades to sell, go visit just about any construction site. Talk to the carpenters, they'll be your best source for used, junk blades. Those always end up in a dumpster otherwise.
Using an Atomstack A20 20W with an RA2 rotary, and Roly LaserMatic10. Professional cabinet maker with plenty of scraps to burn.

Thanks, I appreciate your replys, but my question was specific to what would be the best settings for my 60w fiber mopa laser, I am not looking for colours, just simple text to engrave

Focus, lens size, and the makeup of the stainless will affect the outcomes. but here is a starting point: https://www.lasertips.org/

Well, unfortunately, someone else's settings will likely not work with your laser, so material tests are part of the hobby. Taking shortcuts will likely lead to frustration.
You should probably subscribe to my partner Patrick at Light Source Engraving. He is working on perfecting sawblades now, and will have a video up on the one I'm attaching to this post. He does lots of fiber videos, and you'll find his channel very helpful.
Here's the one he's working on now, the video will be up in a week or two:

Rich, has Patrick ever mentioned if engraving like that on a sawblade would warp the blade at all? If it doesn't, that give me some more ideas about marking my good blades, that I've never even considered.

Brilliant! very cool indeed! Thanks for the advice here, very much appreciatated, and makes complete sense.. Not sure if it was the best way, but I did manage to get a satisfactory result after some playing around (see attached settings and pic of blade)
