Which library for OmTech 350 50w?

Post by Jgearheart80 »

Newbie question. As for the cut and engrave settings, none are listed specifically for the omtech polar 350 50w laser. Would I use the ones for the monport 55w?

Anyone?
My name is NightOwl. I use a B1-40 laser. I have been at this hobby since April 2023. Thanks in advance for any help!

All of these libraries are just starting points. You need to adjust the settings for your machine and for the specific material you’re using. So yes, you can start with the monport library.

It's so hard to get a straight answer from anyone, anywhere :( I am also a new user and have the Omtech 350. It is so hard to just find something that takes you from the very beginning as if you have absolutely ZERO laser and Lightburn experience. Very frustrating

Libraries are always just starting points as each laser can be different. Get a library that is your wattage, or close to it, and start playing around using those settings and go from there. You may find that you have to go slower or hotter to get it to cut through, etc.
Hi my name is Mike and I use a Roly Automation LaserMATIC10 and a Creality Falcon 10w diode laser.

Yup, you just get as close as you can with a library. The only reason you see specific manufacturer downloads for libraries is because I own those lasers. In some cases the manufacturer provides basic cut and engrave settings, but I transfer, test and add more settings from testing the machines. It takes many hours and lots of material to make these.

When you buy a budget laser, you get budget support, if any. Learning how to use a laser is an investment of one's time, like anything else. There are literally 10s of thousands of videos on YouTube teaching how to use a laser. I myself have over 300 on my channel.

In today's world, knowledge is free, but you must make the commitment of investing your time to learn. When you buy a car, do you expect Ford to teach you how to drive? Of course not....

If you have a specific question, chances are you'll get several specific answers on this forum.
